Shopify has a built in crop tool accessed by clicking a product image.
After you have processed an image, set it as a product image to one of your products.
Open the crop tool and crop off the side you want to extend fully to the edge.
Be sure to also add alt text for SEO and usability purposes.

For larger images, you may want to compress the image as well. Using Backdrop, you can download the cropped image from your product admin and then upload it again with compression settings applied.
