Image isolation works best if there is a clear foreground. This can be a person, animal, product, vehicle, etc. 

Images with low resolution are harder for the algorithm to make subtle distinctions, such as images with a subject in the foreground with long hair strands. If possible, use high resolution images for background removal. Then scale down to smaller versions created from the isolated image if you need to use smaller resolutions for your end result.
Padding

By default, extra spacing is added around the image. This can be cropped out if the image is supposed to extend to bleed (run off the edge). Use Shopify's crop tools to do this.
